Writing Week 2 term 4

Poetry

 For the last two weeks we have been learning about different kinds of poetry for reading and writing. I decided to publish this poem. It is a blackout poem.

Weather

 Today we wrote a piece of writing about the weather. We got to choose what ever type we wanted. I chose to write about a very bad day.

Recount Term 2 Week 9

in week 9 my teachers told all of us to writ about sum thing exciting that happen in the last couple of weeks.

Writing Week 3

This week we went on a hunt in the playground to see if we could find some seeds and then we came back to class and wrote about them using our senses of sight and touch to describe them. Here is my work:

Chocolate

This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.

Cicada Poem

 This writing task was about looking at a haiku poem which begins with an adverb and seeing if we could recognise its syllable structure and spot the other language features in it. Then we had two choices. We could either use the poem as a template to write our own  poem of any style with lots of adverbs OR we could rewrite the poem as a haiku by changing a few words here and there and making sure we used some more adverbs.

 This writing task was about looking at a poem and seeing if we could spot the adjectives, adverbs, verbs and other language features in it. Then we had two choices. We could either just enhance the poem by adding extra adverbs or use the poem as a template to write our own poem with lots of adverbs.

couplet poem

We are learning how to write a couplet poem. We looked at an example on page 32  of SJ 1.4 1992. Then we had to choose our own noun, two opposite adjectives to describe it, think of rhyming words for the end of each line and finish the last line with a onomatopoeia word repeated 3 times. Here is my work.

kawa of care

 Mrs Gardiner is in charge of computers at our school and she came to class to talk about the Kawa of care rules we have to follow when working on our Chromebooks. We had to make something to prove we have read the rules and understand and agree to them. Here is my document

The value of Trustworthy

Procedure Writing

 We have been learning to write a procedure. I know a procedure has to have information about how to do or make it and my steps have to be clear instructions.

My Speech

My speech topic is love. I chose this topic because I wanted people to show some more love. 

When I presented my speech I felt good. What I did well was my volume. I could have been a bit faster.

Here is my speech:

Have you ever wondered why love is important? l have. Love can be many things. You can love a toy, a person, your family or even an animal. Love keeps you company and makes you happy. I believe love is the most important force in the universe.

I believe that love is important because if you didn’t have love you would be lonely. You would have no friends and no one would love you. If your family loves you that makes you feel happy and nice.

I believe that love is important because if you didn’t have love kids would grow up mean and nasty. Why you ask? Because maybe they would not have their parents home often to play with or to have fun with. If parents don’t spend time with their kids they won’t feel loved.

My final reason why love is important is that without love there would be no doctors, no police or firefighters. The world would fall into chaos because they would not care about anyone but themselves and would not help to save other people’s lives. These special people must love others to do their job everyday.

I know that love is the most important force on earth. Everyday people are getting greedier and greedier. Why you ask? Well it’s simple they think that money will buy them happiness so show some love please!!!

Today we listened to a story called Rufus goes to school. We had to decide if the principal should let Rufus come to school with reasons.

We listened to the story and gave our reasons for or against letting the pigeon drive the bus. 

Diamante Poem

For our learning about Matariki we had to write a diamante poem. We have to use nouns, adjectives and verbs to make our poem.

Rocket poems

For writing we had to write an Acrostic Poem and a Shape Poem about Rockets. We had to use descriptive language.

Bubbles writing

This week we wrote about bubbles. At the start we played with bubbles. We blew bubbles outside. Mrs Clarke had some really big  bubbles. I used juicy words in my writing. Here is my work
